Gestapo, Secret State Police
To combat people whom the Nazis viewed as political adversaries, they founded the Secret Police (Geheime Staatspolizei, Gestapo) in 1933. The Gestapo was a political police force. Not subject to judicial oversight, the Gestapo had carte blanche, for example, to send people to concentration camps.
